About the Role
We are building a distributed data system where information is fragmented, masked, and dispersed across multiple providers, then reconstructed only at the moment of authorized use.
This role is for a senior systems engineer who can turn deep architectural ideas into production-grade primitives. You will work side-by-side with two technical founders (CEO and CTO) to own the execution of the DataNowhere engine and shape the first SDK used by security-critical enterprises.
Responsibilities
- -> Design and implement the DataNowhere engine (fragmentation, masking, dispersal)
- -> Build the first enterprise-grade SDK exposing the protocol
- -> Make pragmatic tradeoffs to efficiently ship v1
- -> Own performance, correctness, and failure modes
- -> Work closely with the CTO on architecture validation and security reviews
- -> Document and formalize system behavior for external integrators
Requirements
- -> 6+ years building distributed systems, storage, or security infrastructure
- -> Comfortable operating with incomplete specs and high autonomy
- -> Proven ability to ship production-grade systems
- -> Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure ; erasure coding or data sharding ; distributed coordination and quorum systems ; security-sensitive execution paths
Nice to Have
- -> Background in storage engines, databases, or infra tooling
- -> Experience composing cryptographic primitives for production use
- -> Early-stage startup experience
- -> Open-source contributions in infra or security
